Bee happy ... any help is much appreciated

Hi everyone

I need a little help at the moment.

I am about to purchase a new laptop as my current one is about 6 years and is so slow and annoying.  But looking around the shops is confusing me slightly!

Could anyone suggest a good make that you like using, I have a Toshiba at the moment but have been recommend Sony, Apple etc etc, I think whatever the sales person has bought themselves!!

I have been looking at an Intel i3 with 4gb and  500 hard drive, if that makes sense to anyone!

Is this a good spec for blogging and what is everyone else using?

I need my laptop for blogging of course, shopping of course, on line banking, i tunes, photos and using word documents.

I would appreciate any info, hints and tips please as all the techno talk is very confusing!!

Bee happy x
Have a delicious day!

  3. I have a Gateway...and I wouldn't have anything else!!...My friend, the computer expert, says Toshiba's are recommended to stay away from. And HP's are great...I have no idea. I'm transmitting info I just got from her. ^_^

  8. We're all Mac people in my family. We started with them and have moved on to laptops. I have my daughter's older one and it's still going strong. I am wanting a small notebook now...maybe next year.
I have never had a virus invasion with my Mac either.
My friends have all kinds of models have only heard negatives about Toshibas. Good luck! Very exciting.

  9. Hello Bee, thank you for your dear comment. Visits from friends is the best medicine.

I'm sorry to say that I know almost nothing about computers, and the sad way I struggle with getting things up and running are a testimony to that; but I do hope someone can give you help in that area. I know I always need help.

Do have a lovely day, and let us know what computer you get.

    Blessings,
    Marianne xo

  10. Before I comment I'll preface this with: I'm an Apple girl!

I've had my 13inch MacBook for just under 6 years and it is still nippy, has never had a virus and is still miraculously in one piece despite a good dozen clumsy droppage incidents over the years. I couldn't recommend a piece of technology more highly and have found Apple's customer service brilliant.

That being said Macs ARE expensive and I think the entry model is now around £800 so it's a good thing they last well!

  11. I have a Toshiba but i was told the Macs were the best to go for, although i couldnt afford one when i needed to get a laptop so this was my second choice. Good Luck with the laptop shopping. Scarlett x

  12. have fun laptop shopping! you don't really need a great laptop for blogging, lots of memories is good but other than that everything else could be manageable. I wouldn't recommend sony though I have a sony laptop at home and it fell apart in 2 years ie the mouse key stopped working and one of the keys take multiple presses (and I don't carry the laptop anywhere!). good luck!!

  14. well I have to say- after many laptops- when my husband bought me an Apple Mac Book Pro last year, I think I may have fallen in love with it so much that I forgot we had three children to feed....!!

Nothing compares- i promise you- it is LOVE...it does everything....and then it lead me to buying an I-Phone- so now everything is synched and life is so simple and stream lined...

Hope this helps...so much fun to be laptop hunting...enjoy!

  15. My son has just bought a Samsung and it's wonderful to use for a Luddite like me. I shouldn't have said that, as he doesn't have any idea how often I use it, but it is lovely to use.

  16. I was in the same boat as you about a month ago and have just bought a Packard Bell laptop from PC World- the good thing about computer buying at this time of year is that there's lots of student deals about.

I'm already in love with using it, it was half price, came in red and is pre installed with photoshop elements 9, which is great for photo editing. I have access to a Mac as well and think that new windows laptops are just as good as Macs these days.

  17. We're a happy Apple family :)... Once you try Mac for photos and all the rest, you won't go back! Nothing compares to Apple in my opinion.

  18. Got mine this year, it's an HP which was in the sale and cost about £400 I think. I love it, it seems to do what I want - and when it doesn't that's down to me!
