Bee happy ..... decorate!

Well, I've done it, the kitchen is all finished, wallpapered on Saturday afternoon.  At lunch I asked husband what he had got planned for the afternoon and before he realised it he was helping me wallpaper! lol

He has earned several gold stars as he was a brilliant assistant, passing tools, pasting wallpaper and wiping the pasting table, he's so wonderful!

He also took pics for me so here are a few of them, just need to put some pictures back up on the walls now.

Setting up

After getting the tricky bit done around the door and radiator we
stopped for a tea break :)

Finished at about 6.30pm on Saturday, all tidy again. Not bad
to say we started at about 1.30pm

Remember when I painted the woodwork the other day,
well the little dog has got go faster stripes now after walking
near the wet paint!

While the fridge was pulled out to paper behind husband changed the water filter for me, it may have helped him agreeing to wallpaper as he only had to pull the fridge out once then ;)

Bee happy ....make a cushion

Well, everything went smoothly at the dentists yesterday, just a check up and a clean.

I have finished my woodwork painting this morning in the kitchen with the help of my two little dogs who enjoyed climbing on me and nudging me while I was sat on the floor painting the skirting boards :)

Hopefully, if my little wallpaper helper (husband) has nothing else on we will be wallpapering very soon, so excited!

I happened to have a spare chair so decided to put it in the bathroom.  Then I decided that I wanted a cushion on it but didn't want to put a nice one in there in case it got really wet.

I came up with a great idea, I had a pack of 2 Cath Kidston dusters stashed away so decided to sew these together to make a cushion, turned it the right way, stuffed it and then machined sewed the last side up.

I am really pleased with the result and because they are dusters they will soak up any splashes no problems.

Bee happy .... take a delivery

My wallpaper came yesterday afternoon, whoop whoop!  The package looked so lovely :)

I love the patterns that Cath Kidston picks for her wrappings.

I checked all the codes were the same, like a professional, and they were.

It's always a pleasure!

I also love these little cards that are in every order, it's a nice touch.

I'm off to the dentist in a minute with husband, it's time for our check ups :(

This afternoon if my mouth is not too sore I will finish the prep on the woodwork in the kitchen and then I can paint tomorrow and hopefully paper very shortly!

Bee happy ..... grab a bargin

I was shopping yesterday in the supermarket when I came across these picture frames.  Not my usual colour, I tend to go for white or shabby frames but at 50p each I couldn't refuse.  I bought 4 of them because I had something in mind.  I have a picture in the garage not being used with a similar coloured frame so decided I would group them together on the wall in the living room.

I could always paint the frames if I change my mind.

I think the layout looks OK, but I just need to put something in side the small new frames now.  I haven't decided whether or not to put something different in the large frame.

What you do think to my colour swatches on the wall, the living room needs painting, like the rest of the house, I think I will go with white even though I love the greys and blues.

Bee happy .... get in the garden

Went to my local supermarket Morrisons yesterday and bought some plants to brighten up a flower bed in the front garden. I have always found Morrisons to be good on plants and cut flowers all at a great price.

I chose heathers and spring plants to add some colour.  There are more heathers in the borders in the front garden so they will look good dotted around.

This is the flower bed that needs some care and attention.  We had to clear this bed when we built a new wall.  There are some snow drops appearing so I thought more spring plants would look good.

This is going to be my seasonal flower bed.

I will show you the finished spring flower bed when I have braved the outside.

Bee happy .....have a tidy

I have been busy tidying my utility area and thought I would show you the results.

The work top could do with another sand down and re oil but it's one of those jobs that keeps getting forgotten.  I'll put it on husband's jobs to do list :)

Bee happy .... make a discovery

It has been bin day for us today and as husband was out I thought I'd better bring the bin back up so he could park on the drive without knocking it over.

As I reached the place where the bin lives I noticed these little beauties and thought I would share them with you.

A right proper discovery of dainty snow drops.

This brightened my day as it is dull and drizzly here today.

Bee happy ..... wear velvet

I have started wearing my lovely converse and realised I could make them more special than they already are.

I found some gorgeous brown velvet ribbon on eBay and because I am useless at doing laces I asked husband politely if he could lace them up for me.  He did a great job on them but couldn't understand why I would want to use velvet.

Well, I wore them the other day and they didn't come undone or slip off, was well pleased!

Bee happy .... go shopping

Went shopping to Bicester on Saturday, Scarlett Fontaine at Scarlett Loves Elvis made me go, she told me of the delights of this shopping village and I must say she was right!

Bought some cushion covers from Cath Kidston, cheaper than making them with her fabric.  The beige ones for the lounge and the 3 colours for the kitchen chairs.

I got some goodies from Crabtree and Evelyn and love the
 inside of the bag!

My lovely smellies from Crabtree :)

Bee happy ...... pick wallpaper

I visited the Cath Kidston store in York a few months ago and got some wallpaper samples while I was there.

I was picking a pattern for the dining area of my kitchen and couldn't decide which paper to go for so I wrapped the papers around canvas and put them on the wall.
After deliberating for several weeks I have finally decided which paper to go for, the antique white rose pattern on the left.

While I have been deciding the canvas pictures have looked great on the wall.  When I wallpaper I will moved these canvas pictures around the corner into the utility area.

I think I may use the blue rose in the middle for the wall bebind the bed in the master bedroom, haven't ordered it yet, may change my mind .....
I have placed my order but the paper is out of stock at the moment due in at the beginning of March.  So excited .....

Bee happy .... paint something

I was fed up with an old shabby trunk looking messy in the hallway so I decided to paint it using tester pots of paint.

The green I had was too dark so I added a pale grey and mixed them all together and ended up with this lovely, much softer green.

I have added some miniature daffodils which I had to cut.  They were growing too fast in their plant pot in the living room, because of the heat I think, and had flopped over with no hope of ever standing straight again.  At least they look good now on my freshly painted trunk.

Bee happy ..... get inspiration

Got Layered, tattered and stitched book by Ruth Rae from Amazon, it's great, full of inspiration and ideas, it's definitely worth a look.

The work in here is so delicate and pretty, I am thinking of using bits I've made to adorn bags or cushions.....
