Bee happy .... get a postcard

I got a wonderful surprise in the post this morning, a postcard from a dear blogger friend, Susan at Tea Diary.

She is visiting Indonesia at the moment.

Such a gorgeous stamp too.

I miss Susan as her blog is always so inspirational and full of gorgeous photos :)

I am off to the Chatsworth Country show tomorrow, hope the weather improves!

Bee happy .... visit a vintage fair

I went along to this wonderful vintage fair in the Cotswolds on Saturday.

It was full of wonderful people, gorgeous things to buy and lots of inspiration.

I bought several packs of fabric with buttons and trims included, a button from Viv at Hen's Teeth, some pretty ribbon trim, vintage spools and a Mary statue.

I met some lovely fellow bloggers and had a wonderful day out.

I am really pleased with my haul and can't wait to start making something!

Hope you have a happy week :)

Bee happy .... make bread

I fired up the bread maker yesterday.

I just love the smell of fresh bread cooking, the dogs like it too. You will always find them in the kitchen sniffing the air when the machine is on.

Delicious hot, tasty bread and jam :)

Bee happy .... hit the sales

I have been using my credit card a little too much at the moment, it can’t be helped though as the sales are great.

First off, an on line order from Monsoon which came today.

When I tore open the bag there was a free copy of the Grazia magazine, don’t you just love free things J
Also in this package was a new grey cardi with pretty buttons and scallop edging.

Down to the good stuff, lots of buttons, ribbon and binding on wooden bobbins.

On holiday I also bought a couple of things too.
I just had to buy this Kirstie Allsopp book after visiting Clovelly Silk in Devon. It is really good and full of all the craft projects that Kirstie did along with great instructions.

This cute little bits and bobs tin came from Levens Hall in the Lake District.
I just couldn’t resist this, not seen this design before and had to have it.

You may have spied the brown box under the bag in the first picture, this is for another time!
I wonder what you have bought in the sales?

Have a delicious day!

Bee happy ... make a jar pretty

Came across these jars from East of India in John Lewis recently.

They are so pretty and could easily be copied by threading pretty buttons onto thin wire then wrapping around the top of the jar.

This is my button jar which I made.

I had been saving this jar which had honey in and the bee on top for something good.

It was easy to make and looks good too :)

Bee happy ..... get screen printing

Remember my screen printing set I bought while on holiday in North Devon from Clovelly Silk?

Well, I finally made time to have a go this weekend.

This was my tester on an old sheet.

I haven't done any screen printing since I was at school so was quite nervous.

I had made this crown stencil myself, you may be able to see the skull and cross bones under the screen print that I have also made myself.

I think this turned out quite well.

I bought this stencil with the bee and crown, too small to try and cut out myself.

I now need to sew my printed fabrics into something :)

Bee happy ..... give a basket a good home

Out and about a little while ago we spotted a wire shopping basket dumped at the side of the road.

I decided I wanted it and gave it a good home.

It has been sat in the garage for a while but inspiration struck yesterday!

I got out my white spray paint and sprayed the basket to make it cleaner and prettier.

I then got out my trusty glue gun as I wanted to wrap the handles with pretty ribbon.

I used the glue to secure the ribbon so it didn't unravel when it was being carried.

All finished and with only one hurty on my thumb where the hot glue burnt me :(

Lots of uses for my lovely new basket.
