Bee happy ..... kitchen settee renovation is finished

Do you remember these fabrics which I shared with you?

They were for updating my kitchen settee, in the end I used them all.

I am really pleased with the finished look and the dogs love it too!

I painted the frame in Annie Sloan Old White and stitched together a section of fabric pieces to make one larger piece for the bottom.

I used my trusty staple gun and glue gun and added a little more padding to make it softer to sit on.

Bee happy ...... update a settee

I have had this lovely settee for a while now in the kitchen but it was looking quite dirty (from the dogs) and the woodwork was yellowing so I thought it was time for a make over.

These are the fabrics I have chosen to recover with, now the hard work begins ......

Bee happy ....... finished stool makeover

My stool makeover has been successful at last!

If you remember the screw was peaking out on top which I covered with tape.

Unfortunately the napkins weren't thick enough to cover this tape and would need many several more layers to work.

I had an idea of using red and white spot fabric instead which worked perfectly and covered the tape really well.

I cut the fabric to size and put mod podge over the stool and put the fabric over.

I put mod podge around the edges of the stool but didn't use it on top of the fabric so it didn't look too shiny. But at least the edges of the fabric shouldn't lift up where they have been folded under.

I am really pleased with the finished stool and it goes really well in Mr Happy's office with the red, white and blue theme :)

Bee happy ...... gorgeous fabrics

Came across these French/Paris styled fabrics recently and just love them.

Not sure what to use them for though.

Maybe just for looking at for now.

What do you think?

Bee happy ..... bee number 1

I have been making some fabric rosettes.

I tore all of the pink fabric instead of cutting as I love this look.

Matching pink ribbons finished off the look I think.

I also wrote with the sewing machine using free hand embroidery.

These pretty rosettes are now hanging in my office to remind me I am number 1!

Bee happy .... red and white spot shelves now in use

My red and white spot shelves now have a purpose.

They are in the guest bedroom displaying pretty wares.

I also want to share with you my newly covered lamp shade.

It is a Laura Ashley base and shade but I got fed up of the pink shade so decided to re-cover it with fabric to match the guest bedroom.

I chose Cath Kidston red and white star fabric for the re-covering job.

I got out my trusty glue gun and just glued the star fabric over the shade after cutting the fabric to size.

I am really pleased with the transformation and the lamp looks so much better for a change.

Have you changed anything lately?

Bee happy ..... have a project

I recently picked up some brown shelves but didn't like the colour, they were too dark.

I sprayed the shelves white but this left me with a wooden back.

I decided to use some red and white spot fabric to attach to the back panel.

I measured, cut to size and ironed my lovely fabric.

Then I covered the backing board with glue and stuck the fabric on to this.

I then screwed the new spotty back into the edge of the shelves on the reverse.

I am pleased with my new shelves, red and white, one of my favourite combinations.

Do you like?

I think they will be living in the spare bedroom as this is red and white.

Bee happy ........ get parcels

With all of this snowy weather about I am impressed with the delivery services.

My parcels have been delivered to me and the people are usually very friendly.

I have ordered a couple of things in the sales which have reached me in good time. I don't know if you are the same as me, but when I have ordered something online I want it there and then!

I have just ordered some Tilda fabric from Panduro Hobby and had delivery on some shadow boxes from Cox and Cox which are already up on the wall.

I have 2 of these shadow boxes on my office wall.
I can't wait for my Tilda fabric to be delivered, 4 different patterns and some ribbons, all in the sales.

I hope you are getting your parcels safely delivered in this cold, icy weather.

Don't forget to enter my Valentine's giveaway

Hope you are all keeping well and warm.

Bee happy ..... visit Harrogate

I went to the Knit and Stitch show at Harrogate this weekend with my lovely neighbour.

There were some gorgeous pieces of work on display.

This hook work was carried out by Hooked by Design there were some wonderful pieces here.

I especially loved this piece with the bees on :)

I bought some fabric from this stall, the french style and patterned which you will see later.

Great ideas for makes using the fabrics they stock.

Bought some pale pink velvet, hearts and small floral fabric from The Shuttle. The lady and gent here on this stand were so kind and had such a large range of gorgeous fabrics with them.

My buys, bundles of faded florals, red linen, grey and blue lace, paints for my screen printing in gorgeous pastel colours, I also got some sparkly buttons, wool and a heart trug.

Very pleased with my buys, just have to start creating now :)

Bee happy ..... using fabric

I have been pairing similar fabrics together for my next makes.

I am making some eiderdowns and wanted different fabrics for each side.

I think I have come up with some good matches.

What do you think?

 Which is your favourite pair?
