I don't know about the rest of you but most office desk chairs come in boring plain colours or too bright you feel sick! I decided to make mine prettier so it fitted into my office better.
I decided to make covers for it. In the past on a chair before this I actually took the chair apart to cover the seat pads but couldn't be bothered to do this on this chair.
For the seat I made something similar to a shower cap based on the seat shape with elastic through the edges. This is hidden underneath.
For the back of the seat I used 2 circle shapes but following the lines of the chair and sewed the 2 pieces together around 3 sides. I used ribbon instead of elastic for this piece.
When it's fitted just pull the ribbon and tie in a pretty bow.
Both covers can be easily taken off and washed unlike when I took the last chair apart!

Have a delicious day!

ReplyDeleteI should introduce your chair to mine....covered currently in the same spotty fabric ...in pale green! Mind you this is my first one so like you I took it apart to do it. Perhaps next time I will use your tip.
ReplyDeleteMuch, much better! Polkadots are magic for prettifying anything :-) I love that you can pop them in the washer too as I don't know about you but I'm always spilling things!

Thanks for sharing that!
ReplyDeleteI very kindly had a chair gifted to me on Freegle, but it reeked of cigarette smoke and promptly got covered with a bin bag and put outside to air a little.
So, after reading your post today and whilst the sun is shining, I'm going to take off the bin bag, strip it down, wipe it down, then re-upholster it and give it a Sandie makeover!
Watch this space....
