Bee happy ..... updated sofa

Last year I decided to paint and re-cover this pretty sofa to freshen it up.

I made a patchwork cover for the bottom half and plain fabric was used for the back.

I was really pleased with the transformation but I have been busy decorating the kitchen/diner over the last couple of weeks and have changed the Cath Kidston wallpaper for hare wallpaper and the sofa didn't match any more.

So I re-covered it again!

I used a linen table cloth for the back piece of fabric and some grey velvet from Ikea for the bottom piece. I also used my daisy patterned tacks to hold the fabric in place.

I am really pleased with the finished look and found some rabbit cushions to compliment the whole scheme.

Have you got any projects planned?

Bee happy ..... stairs update

I just wanted to show you my new sign.

I have put in on the half landing on the stairs.

I have also put this cute mini xmas tree on the landing window sill which is a left over Chrimstmas decoration.

It is a zinc bucket from Ikea but I have stuck this bee sticker on which I printed on to a sticker and then put on the bucket.

These little changes have brightened up my stairs after taking down the Christmas decorations.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my plea for help, I think I have sorted it for now!

Have a happy week everyone :)

Bee happy .... buy vintage

I wanted to share these vintage postcards with you.

I just love the pictures on the front and the writing on the reverse.
Writing used to be so much neater and fancier years ago.

I have some sets for sale in my eBay shop.

I have also just put these vintage pink wall hooks into my eBay shop.

I have one myself in blue in my office.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far.

I went to Ikea yesterday with a friend and bought some white cardboard magazine files to store my magazines in the summer house. I was a real good girl and didn't spend more than £8 which was amazing for me!

Bee happy ... use labels

I had some labels printed off a little while ago.

This is one of the ways I use them :)

I bought some pink linen fabric from Ikea a couple of weeks ago and just had to use it and was inspired to make this heart when I found this key charm in my stash.

This is now for sale in my Folksy shop.

Bee happy ..... start a new project

It's the new year and a new project for me.

I have decided to use some of my CK and Ikea fabric and make a throw/eiderdown for the bottom of the bed.

My lovely assistant is on hand again offering support and encouragement until I had to put her in the kitchen as she kept moving the fabric while I pinned.

I cut out my 2 pieces of fabric and put wadding in between them.

I then cut pieces of fabric for a frill around the edges.  I ironed these in half to help with the pinning.

Stay tuned for the finished product, it won't be long.

Bee happy ..... finished photos

My spare bedroom is now finished and put back together.

I can say that it is cozy in here as we slept in here while I decorated our bedroom, photos to come :)

As you can see I decided to cover the wallpaper patchwork canvas with the toile wallpaper and as you can see it looks better with the colours in here.

The red rug is from the living room as now we have the natural mats in there from Ikea.

If you've spotted the little plastic cup, that is holding all of the nails and screws taken from the walls in our bedroom, I've found this is a great way to store these bits and curtain hooks for each room as the cups can be wrote on and no bits are lost :)

A reminder of the canvas.

Hope you are having a great week, I am just about to sand the kitchen floor back to repaint white as it is now looking tired compared to the rest of the floors ;)

I will be catching up on all of your blogs very soon.

Bee happy .... living room update

Well the living room is all finished and here are a few pictures showing you around.

I tied a little ribbon around the tops of these lampshades to brighten them up.

I made a new cover for the footstool with Laura Ashley and John Lewis fabric
trimming the yellow frill with ribbon.

You can see I have made matching cushion covers for the settees and I have 2 new Jan Constantine cushions in blue.

I decided to put my embroidery pictures up in this corner instead of the larger wall where they were before, this is my art corner :)

Because I didn't want to put my large mirror back up on the top of this cupboard as it would cover the wallpaper but I wanted a tall picture so I cut out the word LOVE in left over wallpaper and put it in this frame from Ikea.

I also put this heart box picture here which is what I stitched for Mr Happy as an anniversary present for our 20th wedding anniversary which was a couple of weeks ago.

More pictures on this room to come.

At the moment we have a decorator in doing the stairs for us, it was far too hard for me to do, as I write he is balancing on some sort of ladder/wood structure he has set up stripping the last of the wallpaper off the walls and ceiling which I couldn't reach :)

Bee happy ..... change a table

A few weekends ago I started sanding down this table to repaint it.

I have had this table for quite a few years now, and it started off pine then I used an ivy stencil around the corners.

I got the table from Ikea in Leeds even before there was an Ikea open at Nottingham. We drove the table home in a smallish car with the table resting over the top of the headrests so it would fit in the car! Husband and I had compacted backs for a week after driving home squashed in our seats with the table over our heads, probably highly illegal but I just had to have it!

But back to the sanding.

This is it having had a sanding with the electric sander and ready for painting.

Painted white and drying in the living room. Under this white paint
is grey so when I distress it the grey shows through.

2 coats of white paint and a new handle.

The table then went back on the garden to be distressed by hand so the grey paint would show through.
Here is my lovely assistant.

It took about 2 hours by hand to distress and gave me a really sore arm and shoulder!

After sanding by hand the table looked a bit shiny on top still so kind husband got out the electric sander again and went over it to dull it off and then it got sanded again by hand with a really fine paper to finish it off.

Really pleased with the result, the grey shows through and it looks shabby and chic!

Bee happy ..... update magnets

Had these magnets from Ikea hanging around in my drawers, getting in the way for ages, they weren't pretty enough to go on my new fridge!

I decided to do something about it at last!

I played about with different things for the tops.

I made some flowers with cream calico fabric which are old curtains and then stitched a bead, buttons or group of beads in the centre.

I had these cute little crochet flowers and put spotty buttons in the centre.

When I had finally made my decisions I used my glue gun to attach the flowers securely to the top.

My finshed magnets on the fridge.

Hope you like them :)
